There’s really a lot to tell from Ted and Jess’ steamy, early Spring wedding. Set in the quickly growing but super laid back sub tropical city of Darwin, guests travelled remarkable distances to be part of the Wedding week. Even Ted and Jess travelled 10 long outback hours from their property deep in the heart of the Northern Territory to be there. It was a show unlike any I have seen before.
The Groomsmen kicked off the day with a good start after one of them caught sight of a Bikini Carwash. It was the perfect opportunity to clean the Bridal cars and help fund some backpackers along the way! The girls spent the morning relaxing (in the cool) and enjoying pampering that was far from the reality of dust storms and cattle yards back at home.
Married in one of the most beautiful Cathedral’s I have ever seen (St Mary’s Star of the Sea) with a glorious stained glass backdrop the relaxed vibe for their day was set. A quick interruption by an “uninvited guest” mid ceremony was something I had not ever come across before, but formalities continued to unite the couple that met doing what they love, working on the land.
Darwin is one of the few cities in Australia that the sun sets over the water. This in itself is pretty special but then add a flaming red sunset to add to the show and you have something spectacular. With a mix of landscapes, beach backdrops and War heritage for their photographs, Ted and Jess’ day was a divine concoction of the old and new. Something most cities don’t offer, all at your fingertips.
Celebrating with a cocktail ceremony and lights to dazzle, the country folk sure drank their way through some serious amounts of rum! The band was taken over by some beat boxing guests and I even think there was some Karaoke involved! All in all it was a fabulous eve filled with love and much fun!
